Finally! Some good news!
Dear Women in Project Management members,
We are delighted to bring you good news. We awarded our Q4 2020 Professional Development Scholarship to WiPM member Erin Taylor from Patterson, New York. Her scholarship application evoked unflappable positivity during a roller coaster of a year. Read her story below and scroll to the end to learn more about this year’s scholarships.
We had the pleasure of speaking with Erin and will post the video on the WiPM LinkedIn page. Here’s a special shout out to all our WiPM readers. Your membership made Erin’s scholarship possible. Thank you for sending one of our own into our industry better equipped and ready to make a difference for those who follow.
"After a 14-year career break, I decided it was time to explore reentry into the workforce. While researching possible career opportunities, I found WiPM through a google search. Prior to leaving the traditional work force in 2007, I led public outreach on emerging technology in southern Oregon through Oregon State University Extension’s Business and Information Technology program. With interdisciplinary degrees in Environmental Science, from Northwestern University and an MS from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Engineering and Applied Science, I had the background in place to apply an agile mindset. However, I still need training and certification to hone and communicate my skills.
I am thrilled to accept the Professional Development Scholarship for caregivers returning to the professional workforce. It is an honor to be chosen for the inaugural award and I will carry with me the knowledge that established Project Managers see something in me worth investing in. In 2021, I plan to restart my career in the IT sector and, with this award, will become a Certified Scrum Master (CSM). Thank you for your generous gift."
2021 Scholarship Announcement
Spring over to our Education Scholarships and check out the two scholarships for the first half of 2021:
Academic Scholarship - First Half 2021
The WiPM Academic Scholarship Program is designed to financially assist qualified people who wish to study at Registered Education Providers.
WiPM believes that the foundation for the scholarships is based on how the applicant best utilizes the education component.
Workforce Re-Entry Scholarship - First Half 2021
The stress of paying for essential training should never hinder a successful professional re-entry. Re-Entry Funding is available for anyone looking to return to a profession in project management. Candidates may have paused their career to raise children or stepped away from the workforce to indulge a new endeavor. Tell us your story to qualify for funding.
As a WiPM member, you or a member of your immediate household are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Our membership focuses on diversity and inclusion and we have men and women members. If you have a friend or family member who wants to join, we have special rates for students and military personnel. Your charter membership and annual renewals fund these scholarships as WiPM is still boot strapped by the founding board.
